The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kano Command, in collaboration with the Kano State Police Command, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, flagged off activities marking the 2025 Fire Safety Week with a special recognition ceremony and training program.
During the opening ceremony held in Kano, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, was honoured with the prestigious title of “Chief Fire Safety Ambassador” in recognition of his outstanding support for fire prevention initiatives and strict compliance with safety standards.
The event also featured the launch of a Basic Fire Safety and Firefighting Skills Training program targeted at 100 police officers, members of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), and hoteliers across the state. The initiative aims to strengthen institutional and community preparedness against fire emergencies.
Delivering his goodwill message, CP Bakori expressed deep appreciation to the Federal Fire Service for the honour, describing it as a reflection of the strong collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Fire Service in safeguarding lives and property in Kano State.
“This year’s Fire Safety Week is a significant step toward raising awareness and building our collective capacity to prevent and respond to fire incidents effectively,” he said.
“By equipping our officers with these vital skills, we are enhancing their ability to respond to emergencies and reinforcing the safety framework of Kano State.”

He further commended the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service and the Kano Command for their commitment to training, capacity building, and public enlightenment, noting that their efforts have saved countless lives and properties.
CP Bakori reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to integrating fire safety protocols into its operations and infrastructure, pledging continued collaboration with the FFS in promoting a culture of prevention and safety awareness.
“Fire safety is a shared responsibility,” he emphasized. “I urge community leaders, organizations, and members of the public to actively participate in promoting fire prevention and preparedness.”
The Police Commissioner dedicated the award to officers and men of the Kano State Police Command for their dedication and partnership in maintaining safety across the state.
Other activities scheduled for the 2025 Fire Safety Week include practical demonstrations, awareness campaigns, and stakeholder engagements designed to foster a safer and more resilient society.
